Frequently Asked Questions – Teambuilding
What is the purpose of team building activities? Team building activities are usually designed to promote and improve the quality of interactions between members of a team by learning about each other while having common experiences.
When I think about team building activities, I think about people pulling ropes or climbing mountains. Is that all there is to team building?
Those are some examples of team building activities, however, team building goes beyond single events or outdoor activities. We tailor team building activities to company needs and participant preferences. What happens after the activities when the team returns to its regular routine is just as or, even more important than, the activities.
So we decide to go outside and have some fun. And then, what happens?
Team building goes beyond a specific enjoyable activity. It is important to have time to reflect on what was done and what the experience meant for participants before closing the session and, more importantly, how they can apply what they learned about each other to their day to day work.
Many of my employees are introverts and prefer to keep interactions to a minimum. How long would a team building activity take?
We can recommend and design team building activities appropriate to different personalities and preferences.
How can you help me to make sure that a teambuilding does not become “just an activity”?
We can suggest ways for you or others in your company to give continuity to what started during the session in your day to day work. We can propose follow-up activities to reinforce what happened during the session and are available to facilitate those sessions, face-to-face or virtually, upon request.
